Avesh Khan Early Life

Avesh Khan was very interested in cricket since childhood. His brother also used to play cricket. Avesh started playing cricket under the guidance of his father Ashiq Khan, who played cricket at the local level, but could not make a career amid the struggles. Avesh’s father used to run a paan shop on the roadside, where he earned around Rs 500 per day, with which he used to run his household.

At the age of 10, Avesh started playing tennis ball cricket. He could bowl fast at a very young age. Impressed by his talent, his uncle suggested him to bowl with a leather ball, which was the first step towards his becoming a professional cricketer. Then he took hard training, due to which he improved his speed and bowling.

Avesh Khan Domestic Career

At the age of 17, Avesh Khan, due to his continuous hard work, soon made a place in the Ranji team of Madhya Pradesh. Avesh Khan made his first-class debut against the Railways team on 7 December 2014 in Delhi. He took two wickets in the first innings of his first Ranji match. Avesh took 15 wickets in just five matches of the tournament. Avesh Khan was a part of the Indian team for the Under-19 World Cup held in UAE in 2014. However, he could play only a few matches in that tournament and got one wicket. But in the next Under-19 World Cup, Avesh led the Indian pace attack. In the 2016 Under-19 World Cup, Avesh held the record of being the highest wicket taker for India by taking 12 wickets at an average of 15.08.

Avesh made his List A debut against Mumbai in the 2017–2018 Vijay Hazare Trophy. He took two wickets in that match. After this, he continued to perform well in domestic cricket and became the leading bowler of the team. He was the leading wicket-taker in the 2018–2019 Ranji season with 35 wickets in seven matches. In October 2019, he was selected in the India C squad for the 2019–20 Deodhar Trophy.

Avesh Khan IPL career

In the 2022 IPL mega auction, Lucknow Super Giants bought Avesh Khan for Rs 10 crore, which was 50 times his base price. This made him the most expensive uncapped player in IPL history. In the 2022 season, Avesh took 18 wickets in 13 matches at an economy rate of 8.73. Lucknow Supergiants retained him for the 2023 IPL at a price of Rs 10 crore. Avesh took 8 wickets in 9 matches for Lucknow in IPL 2023 at an average of 35.38 and economy of 9.76. But in November 2023, Avesh was traded by Rajasthan Royals.

Avesh Khan International Cricket Career

 

Avesh Khan was included in the Indian team for the ODI and T20 series against West Indies in January 2022, but he did not get a chance to play. He was included in the Indian T20 team for the series against Sri Lanka next month. On 20 February 2022, Avesh Khan made his T20 International debut against West Indies. He took his first T20 International wicket in the last T20 match against Sri Lanka. He took two wickets for 23 runs in four overs.

In July 2022, Avesh was included in the Indian team for the ODI series against West Indies. Avesh made his ODI debut on 24 July 2022 against West Indies. He could not do anything special in that match. Avesh has played five ODI matches for India so far, in which he has taken three wickets at an average of 71.33 and economy rate of 6.03.
