Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) are set to play at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, the first time in the Indian Premier League (IPL) being played in north-east India. RR were supposed to play in Guwahati in IPL 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic caused those plans were be cancelled.

Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings head to head

Both teams have faced each other 24 times yet. In which RR has won 14 matches and faced defeat in 10 matches. The same PBKS has won 10 matches and faced defeat in 14 matches. So,the Rajasthan team have had the upper hand between RR and PBKS.

Ahead in today’s game, Punjab Kings are still play without English cricketer Liam Livingstone, his fitness approval is still pending for from his national cricket Board (ECB). So, he has not arrived in India yet.

However, Kagiso Rabada has joined PBKS squad after completing South Africa’s ODI series against Netherlands on April 2, and he may be replaced Nathan Ellis in the playing XI if he is ready to play. Meanwhile, the only question mark for RR is the fitness of West Indies fast bowler Obed McCoy, who is currently injured.

Both teams come here to play the match on their opening match of impressive victories in the IPL 2023 season. Punjab Kings led by Shikhar Dhawan, brilliant victorious over Kolkata Knight Riders in their first match despite missing their key players like Livingstone and Rabada.

On the other hand, RR will be looking to replicate the attacking top-order batting, with new-ball performance, and tight spin bowling that helped them defeat the Sunrisers Hyderabad in their opening game.

Currently, both teams have won their opening match and scored big totals in their first match, but the Royals sit number two on the points table due to their superior Net Run Rate, while Punjab Kings are at number five.

First time IPL match will be played at Guwahati

Indian Premier League started since 2008 (15 years) but today the wait will over for Guwahati cricket fans. For the first time any IPL match will be played at Barsapara Cricket Stadium. The team of Rajasthan will face the team of Punjab in this Stadium. In2018, the Assam Cricket Association appealed to the BCCI to organize IPL matches in Guwahati. 40,000 cricket fans will witness the first IPL match at the stadium in Guwahati On Wednesday (5 April).
