MI vs GT: Ishan Kishan Injury IPL 2023 Qualifier 2

In IPL 2023 Qualifier 2, Mumbai Indians (MI) crashed out of the tournament after losing to Gujarat Titans (GT) by 62 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday (May 26). Now Gujarat Titans (GT) will face Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the final of IPL 2023. Ishaan Kishan is one of the Mumbai Indians (MI)’s main destructive batsmen.

Ishan Kishan Did Not Come To Bat

MI suffered a heavy loss during the match. If we talk about the loss, the Mumbai team has given a huge target given by Gujarat, Ishaan Kishan, one of his main destructive batsmen, could not come to bat during the Mumbai innings. Because during the first innings itself, Kishan had to leave the field due to an eye injury and Kishan did not come to bat even during Mumbai’s half innings.

MI vs GT: Shubman Scored Century

Mumbai won the toss and invited Gujarat to bat first, GT batsmen did a great job especially Shubman Gill played a very good innings with his bat, scored his 3rd century of the season, Shubman got some support from Sai Sudarshan, he contributed 43 runs in 31 balls. Due to which Gujarat scored a huge score of 233/3 in the stipulated 20 overs. Gill played a blistering inning of 129 runs in 60 balls and hit seven fours and ten sixes during his sensational innings. Meanwhile, in addition to the poor performance of the bowlers, Kishan suffered an injury during the Gujarat innings, due to which Kishan did not come out to bat.

How Ishan Kishan Injured

The incident happened after the 16th over of Gujarat’s innings when MI bowler Chris Jordan was putting on his cap and Ishan Kishan was walking to the other side of the pitch. During this, both the MI players accidentally bumped into each other and Chris Jordan’s elbow unfortunately hit Kishan in the left eye. After the incident, the match was stopped for some time and a physiotherapist was called for investigation. In the end, wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan had to walk off the field. Vishnu Vinod wicketkeeping for the remaining overs of the innings.

Mohit Sharma Get Fifer

Vishnu Vinod failed to make any impact and could contribute only five runs in the run chase. Although Suryakumar Yadav (61), Tilak Verma (43) and CAMERON Green (30) played some useful innings for his team, but his efforts went in vain as Gujarat bowled out Mumbai for 171 in 18.2 overs. Mohit Sharma was the most successful bowler for Gujarat, taking 5 wickets for just 10 runs in the match.

After the humiliating 62-run defeat, captain Rohit Sharma said about Ishan Kishan’s injury in the post-match presentation, “We didn’t expect it, he was a bit hurt, I don’t know how it happened.”
